Maybe it’s the never-ending D&D review (though I think it might have more to do with Leighton and I having a long fanboy discussion about Lankhmar at DieCon) but lately I’ve been itching to do some fantasy world-building. Since I don’t have time to run a game and the world needs another fantasy RPG supplement like it needs more Nazis, I thought I’d share it with you guys.
My usual process for a fantasy world is to start with the big picture and work inward, but I’m going to try something a little different here. I’m going to start with distinct elements of the world (people, places, things) and branch out from there. So, for example, this entry caused me to add two items to my list of possible Things In The World: The Lusty Minotaur and Zeldarian Steel (and by association Zeldar/Zeldaria/Zeldarland). The Lusty Minotaur will probably come sooner, because right now I’m going to focus on the “starting point” city, which I’ve decided to call “The City of 10,000 Daggers” (it might or might not have a briefer name, I haven’t decided).
